The CALAFORNO Forest Park
The CALAFORNO Forest Park is a wooded area that extends between Monterosso Almo, Giarratana, and Ragusa. The name “Calaforno” comes from the “Grotto of Calaforno,” a series of 35 small caverns that were originally used as tombs and were then, over the course of centuries, transformed into houses. Lovers of nature, excursions, and walks in the open air will find themselves before a verdant landscape that extends over 600 meters of land. Its main plants include Aleppo pines and eastern plane trees in terms of flora, while deer and wild boar represent the fauna. Inside the park you can also enjoy moments of relaxation, where you might have a snack or a nice picnic in the area equipped with benches and wooden tables.
